Hello there! My name is Amy Hollenkamp and I am a quirky 27 year old dietitian from Cincinnati, Ohio. About 2 years ago, life seemed pretty fantastic. I had completed my MS in Marketing from the University of Cincinnati and I landed an awesome job as a Marketing and Sales Analyst at a growing tech company. Then, the SIBO monster reared its ugly head and changed my life forever.
Out of the pain and desperation, I discovered a deep passion for functional medicine and gut research. This new found love led me to quit my job in pursuits of a career as a dietician specializing in a functional approach to treating digestive disorders.
My mission is to share what I have learned and facilitate real discussions among SIBO sufferers so we can navigate through our healing journeys together. The vastly different approaches on SIBO treatment have left many (including myself) feeling completely overwhelmed and confused. I found myself wondering who was right? Over time I came to realize that the different approaches usually were not inherently wrong or right, but what I really should have been asking is what is the right treatment for me?
SIBO is so complex and has many different root causes that need to be considered during treatment. Therefore, what works for one person is not going to work for another.
With this complexity in mind, I want to breakdown some of the more controversial SIBO topics in as open and unbiased way as possible in hopes to provide different points of view that can help SIBO sufferers understand all the potential treatment options.
